Description

Stannous chloride (CAS 7772-99-8 ), also known by its food additive designation E512 , is an inorganic tin salt used across industrial and food-grade applications as a reducing agent, catalyst, and stabilizer. It prevents oxidative discoloration in processed foods, accelerates polymerization reactions, and supports metal surface treatment processes. In food and beverage processing, E512 is approved to prevent color degradation. This additive is particularly effective in canned and preserved products, such as white asparagus and certain seafood. Textile and leather manufacturers use it as a mordant to fix dyes and improve color fastness. It is applied to both natural and synthetic fibers to ensure long-lasting results. In plastics and polymer production, it functions as a catalyst or catalyst precursor in the synthesis of polyurethanes. The chemical is also vital for other polymer systems. Printed circuit board and packaging manufacturers apply it in tin plating and surface sensitization processes to prepare substrates for further metallic coating. Stannous chloride is supplied as an anhydrous powder or as the dihydrate crystalline form, with the dihydrate being the more common commercial grade. Standard grades include food-grade, technical, and reagent-grade. Packaging typically ranges from small drums to bulk quantities depending on the grade and intended application. This ensures flexibility for various industrial requirements and large-scale manufacturing needs. Contact us for supply of Stannous chloride Request Quote
