Diaminodiphenyl ether
Description
Diaminodiphenyl ether (CAS 101-80-4 ), commonly abbreviated as ODA and also known commercially as 4,4'-oxydianiline, is an aromatic diamine monomer used in the synthesis of high-performance polymers. It functions as a reactive building block and curing agent in systems where thermal stability and mechanical durability are critical requirements. ODA is a primary monomer in the production of polyimide films and resins. In these applications, it reacts with dianhydrides to deliver materials used in flexible electronics, aerospace components, and high-temperature insulation. In epoxy formulations, it acts as a curing agent to produce thermosets. These materials feature elevated glass transition temperatures suited for structural composites and printed circuit board laminates. Polyurethane and polyurea systems incorporate ODA to introduce aromatic chain segments. This improves rigidity and heat resistance in foam and coating applications. Specialty colorant and pigment manufacturers also use it as an intermediate in synthesizing azo dyes and pigments for printing inks. Diaminodiphenyl ether is supplied as an off-white to light tan crystalline powder. Technical and high-purity grades are available, with purity specifications typically ranging from 98% to 99%+ for industrial use. These specifications meet monomer-grade requirements for polyimide synthesis. Packaging is offered in kilogram-scale bags through to bulk quantities for industrial polymer producers and chemical manufacturers. Contact us for supply of Diaminodiphenyl ether Request Quote
