Description

Dodecanedioic acid (CAS 693-23-2 ), commonly abbreviated as DDDA, is a long-chain dicarboxylic acid used as a building block in polymer synthesis and a functional acid in lubricant formulations. It bridges specialty chemical and commodity markets, with demand driven primarily by nylon and corrosion inhibitor production. It also serves as a surface-active agent in personal care and industrial applications. In plastics and polymers, DDDA is a key monomer in the production of Nylon 6,12 and Nylon 12,12. Its longer carbon chain delivers improved flexibility and lower moisture absorption compared to shorter-chain diacids. The material provides better chemical resistance for high-performance polymers. Lubricant and metalworking formulators use it to produce diester base fluids and corrosion inhibitors suited for biodegradable lubricant systems. In personal care, it functions as an emulsifier and texture modifier in creams and rinse-off products. Its surface-modifying behavior supports formulation stability across various cosmetic and industrial applications. Food-contact and flavor-adjacent applications also draw on DDDA as an acidulant and processing aid in approved formulations. It is supplied as a white crystalline powder for easy handling and processing. Standard commercial grades include technical and polymer-grade specifications. Purity levels are typically at 99% or higher to meet monomer-grade requirements for sensitive chemical synthesis and manufacturing. Food-grade and FCC -compliant material is available for regulated applications. This ensures the product meets strict safety and quality standards for use in specialized food and beverage processing environments. Contact us for supply of Dodecanedioic acid Request Quote
