Description

Diethyltoluenediamine ( CAS 2095-02-5 ), commonly known as DETDA, is an aromatic diamine used as a curing agent and chain extender in polyurethane and epoxy systems. It controls crosslink density and reaction kinetics in high-performance polymer formulations. This chemical directly influences the mechanical and thermal performance of the cured material. In polyurethane elastomers, it functions as a chain extender in reaction injection molding (RIM) systems, where it determines hardness and flex fatigue resistance. It is essential for managing demold times in automotive and industrial parts. Epoxy formulators use it as a curative in structural adhesives, composite matrices, and protective coatings where elevated heat resistance and chemical resistance are required. In polyurea spray coatings, it is incorporated into the amine component to tune reactivity and extend pot life. This is particularly useful for construction waterproofing and the development of corrosion-resistant linings for industrial use. Sealant and cast elastomer manufacturers also use it to achieve specific Shore hardness profiles in demanding sealing and gasketing applications. The material is supplied as an amber to light yellow liquid for various industrial processes. Technical grade is the standard commercial form, with purity typically specified at 98% or higher. Drum and IBC packaging are the common supply formats for industrial buyers seeking reliable chemical sourcing for large-scale production. Contact us for supply of Diethyltoluenediamine Request Quote
