Description

Allyl chloride (CAS 107-05-1 ), also known as 3-Chloropropene, is a reactive organochlorine compound used primarily as a chemical intermediate in the synthesis of allyl-based derivatives. It serves as a foundational building block in the production of agrochemicals, flame retardants, and specialty polymers. In agriculture, it is a precursor in the manufacture of allyl-based pesticides. These soil fumigants are used to control nematodes and soil-borne pathogens in commercial crop production. Polymer manufacturers use it to produce epichlorohydrin, a key intermediate for epoxy resins. It is also essential for glycerol synthesis. In flame retardant formulations, derived compounds are incorporated into plastics and textiles to meet fire resistance standards for industrial applications. Water treatment chemical producers also utilize it as a building block for quaternary ammonium biocides. These target microbial control in industrial water systems and large-scale cooling towers. The product is supplied as a liquid in bulk quantities, typically in drums or ISO tank containers suited for large-volume industrial procurement. Technical grade is the standard commercial specification. Purity levels are commonly at 99% or higher. Buyers should confirm stabilizer content and packaging compatibility given the compound's reactivity during storage and transport to ensure safety.
