Description

Phenoxyethyl acrylate ( CAS 48145-04-6 ), also known commercially as 2-phenoxyethyl acrylate, is a reactive monomer used in UV-curable and radiation-curable systems. It functions as both a reactive diluent and a plasticizing co-monomer, reducing viscosity in formulations while contributing to the final polymer network during the curing process. In UV-curable inks and coatings for printing and packaging, it lowers formulation viscosity without sacrificing cure speed or film hardness. This makes it ideal for high-speed production lines. Radiation-curable adhesives and pressure-sensitive adhesive formulations incorporate it to improve flexibility and substrate adhesion in the cured matrix, ensuring long-lasting performance. Coatings manufacturers use it in wood, plastic, and metal finishing systems where a balance of hardness and elongation is required for durable and aesthetic surface protection. In polymer synthesis, it serves as a building block for specialty acrylate resins where aromatic character and controlled glass transition properties are specifically targeted by chemists. Phenoxyethyl acrylate is supplied as a clear liquid, typically with inhibitor added to prevent premature polymerization during storage and transport. It is available in technical grade. Purity specifications are commonly at 98% or higher. Bulk quantities are offered in drums and IBC totes, with packaging suited to industrial formulation environments and large-scale use.
