Description

Tetrafluoroboric acid (CAS 16872-11-0 ), commonly referenced by its formula HBF4, is a strong inorganic acid supplied primarily as an aqueous solution. It functions as a catalyst and electrolyte component. The material serves as a surface treatment agent across electroplating, electronics manufacturing, and specialty chemical synthesis. In metal finishing, it serves as the primary electrolyte acid for tin and lead. It is used in tin-lead alloy plating baths, where it maintains bath stability and deposit quality. Electronics manufacturers use it in PCB surface treatment and flux formulations to prepare metal surfaces. The acid is essential for soldering and bonding processes. As a catalyst in polymer and resin production, it promotes condensation and cyclization reactions where conventional mineral acids are unsuitable. In mining and metals processing, it is used in pickling and etching operations to selectively remove oxides from reactive metal surfaces. This ensures high-quality finishes on various industrial components. The product is supplied as an aqueous solution, with 48–50% concentration being the most commercially standard grade. Technical grade is the predominant specification available at industrial scale. High-purity electronic grade material is offered for semiconductor and precision plating applications. Bulk supply is available in drums and IBC containers for large-scale manufacturing requirements. Smaller packaging options are also available for laboratory and specialty use. This ensures that the chemical meets the diverse needs of both research facilities and heavy industrial operations. Contact us for supply of Tetrafluoroboric acid Request Quote
