Tetramethylthiuram Disulfide
Description
Tetramethylthiuram Disulfide (CAS 137-26-8 ), commercially known as Thiram and abbreviated TMTD, is an organosulfur compound used as a rubber vulcanization accelerator, fungicide, and industrial biocide. It functions across rubber processing, crop protection, and preservation applications where sulfur-donor chemistry is required. In rubber and tire manufacturing, TMTD acts as a primary or secondary vulcanization accelerator. This chemical enables efficient crosslinking at lower temperatures and improves aging resistance in finished rubber goods. In agriculture, Thiram is an active ingredient in seed treatment and foliar fungicide formulations. It protects crops against a broad spectrum of fungal pathogens including Botrytis and Fusarium species. Industrial formulators use it as a biocide in latex preservation and polymer stabilization for aqueous rubber dispersions. The compound also functions as a catalyst precursor in certain specialty chemical syntheses where controlled sulfur donation is required. It is supplied as a white to off-white powder or as pre-dispersed granules. Standard grades include technical-grade material meeting rubber industry specifications, as well as agricultural-grade material conforming to FAO/WHO pesticide standards. Purity typically ranges from 95% to 98%+. The material is available in masterbatch forms suited for rubber compounding to ensure uniform distribution. This versatility makes it a critical component for manufacturers requiring high-performance sulfur-donor chemistry. Contact us for supply of Tetramethylthiuram Disulfide Request Quote
