Description

Molybdenum trioxide (CAS 1313-27-5 ), also known as molybdic anhydride, is an inorganic molybdenum compound used as a functional pigment and biocidal agent across coatings and surface treatment industries. Its role spans corrosion-inhibiting pigmentation, antimicrobial preservation, and as a precursor in specialty chemical manufacturing. In protective coatings and primers, MoO3 acts as a corrosion-inhibiting pigment. It is frequently used to replace chromate-based systems in metal protection applications where regulatory pressure demands safer alternatives. Textile and leather processing operations use it as a mordant and fixative. This improves dye uptake and wash fastness in finished goods. In printing inks and packaging coatings, it contributes biocidal and preservative functionality, extending product shelf life and inhibiting microbial growth. Adhesives and sealant formulations incorporate molybdenum trioxide where antimicrobial performance is required alongside adhesion to metal or polymer surfaces. It is supplied as a fine white-to-pale yellow powder. The material is available in both technical and high-purity grades. Standard specifications include technical grade for industrial coating and pigment applications, with higher-purity grades for catalyst uses. Bulk supply is typically offered in multi-kilogram bags or drums, with packaging adjusted to meet industrial procurement volumes. This ensures consistent quality for large-scale manufacturing and chemical processing. Contact us for supply of Molybdenum trioxide Request Quote
