Description

Sodium molybdate dihydrate (CAS 10102-40-6 ) is an inorganic molybdenum salt used across industrial water systems and surface treatment processes primarily as a corrosion inhibitor. It protects metal surfaces by forming a stable passivation layer. This chemical reduces metal loss in closed-loop and open recirculating systems. In industrial water treatment, it is dosed into cooling water circuits and heating systems to inhibit corrosion of steel, copper, and aluminum components. It often replaces chromate-based inhibitors where environmental regulations apply. The textile and leather industries use it as a mordant and fixative in dyeing processes, improving color fastness and dye uptake on natural and synthetic fibers. In agriculture, it serves as a micronutrient source in fertilizer formulations and foliar sprays. This application is essential for correcting molybdenum deficiency in crops such as legumes and brassicas. Printing and packaging applications include its use as a pigment component in molybdate orange and red colorants for inks and coatings. Sodium molybdate dihydrate is supplied as a white crystalline powder or granule. Standard commercial grades include technical grade and agricultural grade, with purity levels typically at 98–99% on a dry basis. Reagent-grade material is available for laboratory and analytical applications. Contact us for supply of Sodium molybdate dihydrate Request Quote
