Description

Hexamethylenediamine ( CAS 124-09-4 ), commercially abbreviated as HMDA, is a primary diamine monomer central to the production of polyamide resins and polymer intermediates. It functions as a difunctional building block and crosslinking agent across polymer chemistry and coatings. HMDA is the principal monomer in nylon 6,6 production, where it reacts with adipic acid to form the salt precursor used in fiber, film, and engineering plastics. In coatings and adhesives, it acts as a curing agent for epoxy systems. This chemical improves crosslink density and chemical resistance in industrial finishes. Polyurethane and polyurea formulations use HMDA-derived intermediates to control chain extension and mechanical performance in elastomers and sealants. Personal care formulators apply it in limited concentrations for pH adjustment in rinse-off products where amine buffering is required. Hexamethylenediamine is supplied as a molten liquid for bulk industrial shipment. It is also available as a solid flake or crystalline form for smaller-volume packaging. Technical grade is the standard for polymer and coatings applications. Purity specifications typically range from 99%+ for monomer-grade material. Documentation is available to support compliance in regulated manufacturing environments. This ensures that the material meets the necessary industrial requirements for high-performance polymer synthesis and chemical processing. Contact us for supply of Hexamethylenediamine Request Quote
