Diisopropanolamine
Description
Diisopropanolamine ( CAS 110-97-4 ), commonly abbreviated as DIPA, is a secondary alkanolamine used across industrial and personal care formulations. It functions primarily as a pH regulator, neutralizing agent, and curing component, depending on the application. Procurement teams source it as a cost-effective alternative to triethanolamine where lower viscosity or different reactivity profiles are required. In coatings and industrial fluids, DIPA neutralizes acidic resins and dispersants to stabilize emulsions. It is used to control pH in waterborne systems effectively. Adhesive and sealant formulators use it as a crosslinking agent and curing accelerator, particularly in polyurethane and epoxy-based systems to ensure structural integrity. Water treatment applications rely on DIPA to scavenge acidic gases such as CO₂ and H₂S in gas purification processes. This makes it a vital component for environmental management and industrial gas scrubbing operations. In personal care, it neutralizes carbomers and anionic polymers in creams, lotions, and hair care products. It adjusts pH without the odor concerns associated with some competing amines, improving the final user experience. DIPA is supplied as a liquid at ambient temperatures and as a solid or flake form in cooler conditions, given its relatively high melting point. Technical grade is the standard offering for industrial coatings and gas treatment. Cosmetic-grade material meeting relevant purity specifications is available for personal care formulations. Our supply chain ensures consistent quality for manufacturers requiring high-performance chemical intermediates for global distribution. Contact us for supply of Diisopropanolamine Request Quote
