Diethanolisopropanolamine
Description
Diethanolisopropanolamine (CAS 6712-98-7 ), commonly known by its abbreviation DEIPA, is a tertiary alkanolamine combining hydroxyl and amine functionality in a single molecule. It functions as a pH regulator, corrosion inhibitor, and dispersing agent across industrial and personal care formulations. In cement and concrete grinding aids, DEIPA improves particle dispersion. It enhances mill efficiency, reducing energy consumption during clinker processing, which is one of its most commercially significant uses. Metalworking fluid formulators incorporate it as a corrosion inhibitor. It acts as a pH buffer, extending fluid service life and protecting ferrous and non-ferrous surfaces. In personal care products such as lotions and creams, DEIPA neutralizes acidic polymers. It works with fatty acids to stabilize emulsions and adjust final pH. Water treatment formulations use it as a chelating agent to sequester hardness ions and prevent scale deposition. This prevents buildup in industrial cooling systems. DEIPA is supplied as a clear to slightly yellow viscous liquid, typically at 85% and 100% active concentrations for various applications. Technical grade is the standard commercial offering, with bulk liquid supply in drums, IBCs, and isotanks being the norm for industrial buyers. No food or pharmaceutical grades are recognized.
