Description

Styrene-butadiene (CAS 9003-55-8 ), commercially known as styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), is a synthetic copolymer used across rubber and polymer manufacturing. It delivers controlled elasticity and abrasion resistance. This material offers excellent processability in high-volume industrial applications. In tire manufacturing, SBR is the dominant tread compound material, offering wear performance comparable to natural rubber at lower cost. It provides greater batch consistency for large scale production. Building and construction applications include flooring adhesives, waterproofing membranes, and asphalt modification where it improves flexibility. Printing and packaging converters use SBR-based latex as a binder in paper coatings and carpet backing. This helps in controlling rheology and surface adhesion for various industrial substrates. Automotive seals, gaskets, and conveyor belting also rely on SBR compounds for durable, cost-effective elastomeric performance. It is a versatile solution for many mechanical rubber goods. Styrene-butadiene is supplied as dry bales, crumb rubber, and aqueous latex dispersions. Standard grades are differentiated by styrene-to-butadiene ratio and Mooney viscosity for specific processing. Emulsion-polymerized and solution-polymerized variants are available for different performance profiles. Food-contact and indirect-contact grades are recognized under E1585 for regulated applications. Contact us for supply of Styrene-butadiene Request Quote
