Cuprous iodide
Description
Cuprous iodide (CAS 7681-65-4 ), also known as CuI and commercially as Marshite, is an inorganic copper salt used across pharmaceutical synthesis, catalysis, and antimicrobial applications. Hydro-Giene is a recognized trade designation in hygiene and textile treatment contexts. Procurement demand spans multiple sectors where controlled copper(I) chemistry is required for industrial processes. In pharmaceutical and fine chemical manufacturing, CuI is a primary catalyst and co-catalyst in Ullmann coupling reactions and Sonogashira cross-coupling. This enables the construction of complex organic molecules at scale. Textile and technical fabric producers apply it as an antimicrobial agent, imparting durable biocidal properties to fibers and coatings. In personal care formulations, it functions as a surface-active antimicrobial component. It is utilized in hygiene products where sustained microbial control is required. Salt iodization and nutritional fortification programs also source CuI as a stabilized iodine carrier in certain food-grade and feed applications. Cuprous iodide is supplied as a white to off-white crystalline powder. Standard commercial grades include technical, reagent, and pharmaceutical-grade material, with purity levels typically ranging from 98% to 99.5%+. Packaging is available in small laboratory quantities through to bulk industrial formats. Moisture-controlled packaging is standard due to light and humidity sensitivity to ensure the stability of the chemical compound. Contact us for supply of Cuprous iodide Request Quote
