Polydiethylsiloxane
Description
Polydiethylsiloxane (CAS 63148-61-8 ), also known commercially as Esilon 5, is a silicone polymer built on diethyl-substituted siloxane repeat units rather than the more common dimethyl backbone. This structural distinction delivers enhanced surface activity, controlled lubricity, and rheological modification across industrial formulations where standard silicones underperform in various applications. In coatings and sealants, it functions as a surface modifier to reduce surface tension, improve substrate wetting, and prevent cratering or fisheye defects in cured films during the application process. Elastomer and adhesive formulators incorporate it to adjust flow behavior and extend open time without compromising final bond strength. In lubricant compounding, it provides a low-friction boundary layer. This layer is suited to polymer-on-polymer contact surfaces where conventional mineral or silicone oils may cause swelling or incompatibility. Plastics processors use it as an internal or external processing aid. It helps to reduce die buildup and improve mold release in extrusion and injection molding operations. The material is supplied as a clear to slightly hazy liquid with specific viscosity grades. Viscosity grade is the primary specification parameter relevant to procurement. Technical-grade material is the standard commercial offering, with ranges selected to match specific formulation requirements. Bulk liquid and drum packaging are typical supply formats for industrial volumes. This ensures consistent performance and ease of handling for large-scale manufacturing and chemical processing facilities. Contact us for supply of Polydiethylsiloxane Request Quote
