Description

Calcium disodium EDTA (CAS 62-33-9 ), also known as edetate calcium disodium and approved as E385 in food applications, is a chelating agent that binds and neutralizes free metal ions. By sequestering trace metals, it prevents oxidative degradation, discoloration, and microbial activity across a broad range of end products. In food manufacturing, it is used to stabilize canned vegetables and dressings. It sequesters iron and copper ions that would otherwise accelerate rancidity and color loss. Personal care formulators incorporate it into creams and shampoos to deactivate metal contaminants that reduce efficacy. In pharmaceutical preparations, edetate calcium disodium functions as a stabilizing excipient in injectable and topical formulations where metal-catalyzed degradation must be controlled for safety. Water treatment applications use this versatile chemical to control scale formation and metal interference in process water systems. It is supplied as a white crystalline powder or granules for easy handling. Standard grades include food-grade ( FCC ), USP , and BP / Ph. Eur. specifications, supporting procurement across regulated food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical supply chains. Technical grade is also available for industrial and water treatment applications. This ensures that the material meets the specific purity requirements for diverse manufacturing and processing environments. Contact us for supply of Calcium disodium EDTA Request Quote
