Description

Pinacolborane (CAS 25015-63-8 ), commonly abbreviated as HBpin, is a selective hydroboration reagent used across pharmaceutical synthesis and specialty chemical manufacturing. It delivers boron functionality to unsaturated substrates under mild, controllable conditions. This reagent enables efficient access to organoboron intermediates that would otherwise require multi-step routes. In pharmaceutical and API synthesis, HBpin is the reagent of choice for catalytic hydroboration of alkenes and alkynes. It produces pinacol boronate esters that feed directly into Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling sequences. Medicinal chemistry and process chemistry teams rely on it to install boronic ester handles on complex scaffolds with high regioselectivity. This high level of control reduces the downstream purification burden for manufacturers. Biotechnology researchers use HBpin in the preparation of boron-tagged probes and labeled building blocks for biological screening applications. In specialty monomer production, it supports the synthesis of boron-functionalized monomers for controlled polymerization platforms. Pinacolborane is supplied as a colorless to pale yellow liquid, typically at purities of 95% and above. High-purity grades are available for sensitive synthetic applications. It is offered in research quantities through to multi-kilogram industrial packaging to meet various production scales. Moisture-sensitive handling requirements are reflected in inert-atmosphere packaging formats. Technical and synthesis-grade specifications are standard across the market for this versatile chemical intermediate. Contact us for supply of Pinacolborane Request Quote
