Vinyl toluene
Description
Vinyl toluene (CAS 25013-15-4 ) is a reactive monomer used as a building block in polymer synthesis and resin production. It functions as a crosslinking and copolymerization agent, enabling formulators to modify the performance characteristics of polymer systems. This versatile chemical is utilized across coatings, adhesives, and plastics applications. In unsaturated polyester and alkyd resin systems, it acts as a reactive diluent and crosslinker, replacing styrene where lower volatility is required. Coatings manufacturers use it to produce harder, faster-curing films in industrial and architectural finishes. In printing inks, it contributes to resin binders that require controlled drying speed and adhesion to various substrates. Adhesive and sealant formulators incorporate it into copolymer backbones to tune flexibility, tack, and cohesive strength. This is particularly useful in pressure-sensitive and structural formulations requiring specific mechanical properties. The product is supplied as a liquid monomer, typically inhibited with a polymerization inhibitor to maintain stability during storage and transport. This ensures the material remains reactive only when intended during the manufacturing process. It is available in technical grade , which is the standard specification for industrial polymer and resin applications. Bulk liquid supply in drums, IBCs, and isotanks is the conventional commercial format for this product. Contact us for supply of Vinyl toluene Request Quote
