Description

Vinyltriethoxysilane ( CAS 78-08-0 ), commonly abbreviated as VTEO, is an organosilane coupling agent that bridges inorganic substrates and organic polymer matrices. It functions as a reactive monomer and surface modifier across adhesives, sealants, and coatings. In crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE) production, VTEO is grafted onto polyethylene chains to enable moisture-cure crosslinking. This is a critical process for wire and cable insulation where durability is paramount. Rubber and silicone sealant formulators use it to improve adhesion to glass, metal, and mineral fillers. This directly affects bond durability in various construction and automotive assemblies during the manufacturing process. In coatings and primers, VTEO-treated surfaces improve adhesion of organic topcoats to glass fiber and silica. It is also effective on other inorganic substrates to ensure long-term coating integrity and performance. Electronics manufacturers apply it as a surface treatment for encapsulants and laminates. This is necessary where moisture resistance and interfacial adhesion are strict qualification requirements for the final product. Vinyltriethoxysilane is supplied as a clear liquid, typically in drums and IBC containers for industrial volumes. Technical grade is the standard commercial offering, with purity specifications commonly at 97% or higher. Specialty electronic and high-purity grades are available from select producers to meet tighter process requirements. These grades ensure that the material meets the rigorous demands of advanced chemical manufacturing. Contact us for supply of Vinyltriethoxysilane Request Quote
