It functions primarily as a filler, lubricant, anti-caking agent, and surface modifier in solid and semi-solid formulations across multiple sectors. In pharmaceuticals, it acts as a glidant and lubricant. This material improves powder flow and prevents die sticking during tablet compression. Personal care and cosmetics formulators incorporate it into pressed powders and foundations to control texture and absorb moisture. It is also used to improve slip in body powders. Plastics processors use it as a mineral filler to increase stiffness, reduce cycle times, and lower raw material costs in polypropylene compounds. In food production, it is approved as an anti-caking agent for coating chewing gum, rice, and dried goods. This prevents clumping during storage and handling while maintaining product integrity.
