Sodium bicarbonate
Description
Sodium bicarbonate (CAS 144-55-8 ), also known commercially as baking soda, is a mild alkali used across food, pharmaceutical, and industrial markets to regulate pH and leaven baked goods. It is also used to neutralize acids in process streams. NaHCO3 is one of the most broadly sourced inorganic salts, available from multiple global producers in food and technical grades. In food manufacturing, it acts as a chemical leavening agent in baked goods, reacting with acidic ingredients to generate CO₂ and produce the desired rise and texture for the final product. Pharmaceutical manufacturers use it as an active excipient in antacid formulations and effervescent tablets, where controlled CO₂ release is critical to dosage form performance and efficacy. In water treatment, it adjusts alkalinity and stabilizes pH in drinking water and process water systems without introducing chloride ions. Personal care formulators incorporate it into toothpastes. It is also used in bath products and deodorants for its mild abrasive and odor-neutralizing properties. The material is supplied as a white crystalline powder in a range of particle sizes. Food-grade material is available to FCC and E500(ii) specifications. Pharmaceutical-grade material is supplied to USP and Ph. Eur. standards for global compliance. Bulk supply is typically offered in bags, supersacks, and bulk tanker quantities. This ensures that industrial and commercial users receive the appropriate volume for their specific manufacturing needs. Contact us for supply of Sodium bicarbonate Request Quote
