Description

Copper dimethyldithiocarbamate (CAS 137-29-1 ), commercially known as Cumate, is a copper-based dithiocarbamate compound used as both a rubber accelerator and a biocidal preservative. It functions as a secondary ultra-accelerator in vulcanization and as an active ingredient in antimicrobial treatments across several industrial sectors. In rubber compounding, it accelerates sulfur vulcanization at low temperatures. This makes it particularly effective in latex systems and thin-walled rubber goods where fast cure rates are required. Textile and leather processors use it as a preservative treatment to protect materials. It protects against fungal and microbial degradation during storage and transit. In agricultural formulations, it serves as a fungicide active ingredient targeting crop pathogens, particularly in specialty products. Paper manufacturers apply it in mill process water treatment and as a slimicide to control microbial growth. This prevents growth that would otherwise compromise pulp quality and equipment performance. Copper dimethyldithiocarbamate is supplied as a dark brown to black powder. Technical grade is the standard commercial form, with purity specifications typically confirmed by active copper content assays. Dithiocarbamate content assays are also used to verify the quality of the material. Bulk and drummed packaging options are available to meet industrial procurement volumes for global distribution.
