Acrylonitrile
Description
Acrylonitrile (CAS 107-13-1 ), also known as vinyl cyanide or by the trade names Ventox and Fumigrain, is a reactive monomer used as a foundational building block in large-scale polymer manufacturing. As AN, it is a primary feedstock for producing acrylic fibers, ABS resins, and nitrile rubber across multiple industrial sectors. In textile manufacturing, AN is polymerized to produce acrylic fibers used in apparel and carpeting. These fibers are also utilized in industrial fabrics. The rubber and tire industry relies on it as a co-monomer in nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR), which is compounded into fuel-resistant hoses, seals, and gaskets. In plastics, it is a key co-monomer in ABS and SAN resins, supplying rigidity and chemical resistance to molded components and packaging. Historically, Ventox and Fumigrain formulations have also been applied as fumigants. These were used as grain and commodity fumigants for pest control in stored agricultural products. Acrylonitrile is supplied as a stabilized liquid, typically inhibited with monomethyl ether of hydroquinone (MEHQ). This inhibitor prevents premature polymerization during storage and transport. It is available in technical and polymerization grades, with purity specifications commonly at 99% or higher to meet industrial needs. Bulk quantities are supplied in ISO tank containers or rail tankers, with drum packaging available for smaller-volume procurement. This ensures flexible logistics for various manufacturing scales and requirements. Contact us for supply of Acrylonitrile Request Quote
