Diethyl carbonate
Description
Diethyl carbonate ( CAS 105-58-8 ), also known as DEC or Eufin, is a low-toxicity carbonate ester solvent used across pharmaceutical manufacturing, battery electrolyte production, and specialty chemical synthesis. Its low water reactivity and miscibility with a broad range of organic solvents make it a preferred alternative to more hazardous polar aprotic solvents in regulated production environments. In lithium-ion battery electrolyte formulations, DEC is a primary co-solvent that improves ionic conductivity and low-temperature performance for high-performance energy storage systems. Pharmaceutical manufacturers use it as a reaction solvent and carbonylation reagent in the synthesis of carbamates, polycarbonates, and active pharmaceutical ingredients for various medical applications. In food and flavor applications, it functions as a beverage preservative and fermentation inhibitor, particularly in wine and fruit juices where microbial control is required without heat treatment. Specialty chemical producers also use DEC as a methylation and ethylation agent in catalyst preparation and fine chemical synthesis, offering high selectivity and safety in industrial processes. Diethyl carbonate is supplied as a clear liquid in drums, IBCs, and bulk tanker quantities. Standard commercial grades include technical, anhydrous, and high-purity specifications suited to battery use. FCC grade material is available for food and beverage use cases requiring regulatory compliance documentation. Our logistics team ensures reliable delivery of high-purity chemicals to global facilities. Contact us for supply of Diethyl carbonate Request Quote
