Polyethylene glycol dioleate
Description
Polyethylene glycol dioleate (CAS 9005-07-6 ), also marketed as Radiasurf 7443, is a nonionic diester surfactant produced by esterifying polyethylene glycol with oleic acid. It functions as an emulsifier, lubricant, and dispersing agent across a range of industrial and personal care applications. In textile and leather processing, it acts as a fiber lubricant and softening agent. This chemical reduces friction during spinning, weaving, and finishing operations. Metalworking formulators incorporate it into cutting fluids and rolling oils to enhance performance. Its film-forming character supports metal surface protection under load. Printing ink manufacturers use it to improve pigment dispersion and control rheology in both solvent-based and water-based systems. In personal care, it functions as an emollient carrier and emulsification aid in creams, lotions, and hair conditioning formulations. Polyethylene glycol dioleate is supplied as a liquid or viscous oil. The appearance and viscosity vary by the molecular weight of the PEG chain. Common commercial grades are differentiated by PEG chain length, typically expressed as PEG-X dioleate. Grades range from low to high ethylene oxide content. It is generally available in technical and industrial grades, with documentation packages suited to industrial procurement and cosmetic ingredient compliance.
