Saccharin

Saccharin (CAS 81-07-2 ), also known as O-benzosulphimide, is a synthetic, non-caloric sweetener approximately 300–500 times sweeter than sucrose. It is used across food, pharmaceutical, and personal care industries. This versatile ingredient serves as a sugar substitute and taste-masking agent. In food and beverage manufacturing, it is used in tabletop sweetener blends, diet soft drinks, and low-calorie confectionery where caloric reduction is required. Pharmaceutical formulators rely on it to mask the bitter taste of active ingredients in oral syrups, chewable tablets, and liquid dosage forms. Personal care manufacturers incorporate it into toothpastes and mouthwashes. These applications deliver sweetness without fermentable sugars.
