Description

Palladium Chloride (CAS 7647-10-1 ), commonly referenced as PdCl2, is an inorganic palladium salt used primarily as a catalyst precursor and analytical reagent across chemical manufacturing and industrial processing. It serves as the entry-point compound for producing a broad range of palladium-based catalysts deployed in high-value synthesis and surface treatment applications. In pharmaceutical manufacturing, it is used to prepare catalysts for cross-coupling reactions. These reactions, including Suzuki, Heck, and Sonogashira, are essential for building complex active pharmaceutical ingredients. Printed circuit board and electronics manufacturers use it as a sensitizing agent in electroless plating baths. This application enables copper deposition onto non-conductive substrates. In mining and hydrometallurgy, it functions as a reference material and selective precipitant in precious metal refining and assay processes. Antimicrobial and biocide formulations in industrial water treatment and preservation also draw on its activity against microbial contamination. Palladium Chloride is supplied as a dark brown to red crystalline powder. It is also available as an aqueous hydrochloric acid solution. Standard commercial grades include anhydrous and dihydrate forms, with purity levels ranging from technical grade to high-purity specifications. These grades meet research and catalyst manufacturing requirements. Packaging is typically offered in small quantities due to the material's high unit value and specialized industrial handling needs.
