Oleyl propylene diamine
Description
Oleyl propylene diamine (CAS 7173-62-8 ), commercially recognized under the trade name Duomeen, is a fatty diamine derived from oleic acid used across industrial sectors as a corrosion inhibitor and emulsifier. Its dual amine functionality allows it to bond to both metal surfaces and acidic or anionic substrates, making it effective across a broad range of formulation and process chemistry applications. In oil, gas, and pipeline operations, it functions as a corrosion inhibitor in acidic and saline environments, protecting metal infrastructure from electrochemical degradation during transport. Mining operations use it as a flotation collector and ore beneficiation agent, where it selectively adsorbs onto mineral surfaces to improve separation efficiency and recovery rates. Metalworking and lubricant formulators incorporate it into cutting fluids and rust-preventive coatings for its film-forming and emulsification properties in demanding industrial environments. In textile and paper processing, it acts as a surface modifier and dispersant, improving fiber wettability and dye uptake uniformity across various manufacturing stages. Oleyl propylene diamine is supplied as an amber to brown liquid at ambient temperature. It is available in technical grade, the standard specification for industrial and process chemistry. Bulk supply is typical in drums and IBC containers, with tank quantities available for large-volume industrial buyers requiring consistent material for high-capacity production lines.
