Polyethoxylated tallow amine ( CAS 61791-26-2 ), also known as POEA or by the trade name Noramox S 5, is a nonionic surfactant derived from ethoxylated tallow-based fatty amines. It functions primarily as an emulsifier, wetting agent, and dispersant across agricultural and industrial formulations. In agrochemical formulations, POEA is used as an adjuvant to enhance herbicide uptake. This is most notably seen in glyphosate-based products by improving leaf surface penetration and active ingredient absorption. In textile processing, it aids in fiber wetting and dye leveling. This ensures uniform color distribution during dyeing operations. Industrial and institutional cleaning formulations incorporate it for its ability to reduce surface tension and improve soil dispersion. It also appears in personal care and cosmetic formulations as an emulsifier and conditioning agent in rinse-off products. Polyethoxylated tallow amine is supplied as a liquid or paste. The physical state depends on the degree of ethoxylation. It is available in technical grade , with ethoxylation levels commonly ranging from 2 to 20 moles of ethylene oxide.
