Description

L-Carnitine (CAS 541-15-1 ), also marketed under the brand name Carnitor, is a naturally occurring quaternary ammonium compound used across food, pharmaceutical, and personal care manufacturing. It functions primarily as a bioactive nutrient ingredient, supporting fatty acid metabolism pathways that make it a target active in energy-related formulations for various industries. In dietary supplements and functional foods, it is incorporated into sports nutrition products, energy drinks, and weight management formulations as a declared active ingredient. Pharmaceutical manufacturers use it in oral solutions, tablets, and infusion preparations targeting metabolic and cardiovascular indications. It is also added to infant formula and clinical nutrition. Personal care formulators incorporate it into skin and scalp treatments where it contributes moisturizing and conditioning performance. It is supplied as a white crystalline powder or liquid. Standard grades include USP , BP , Ph.Eur. , and food-grade ( FCC ), with pharmaceutical grades subject to tighter impurity and optical purity specifications. L-Carnitine L-Tartrate, a salt form offering improved flow and stability, is also commercially available for solid dosage and supplement applications across global markets.
