Description

Hexanediaminetetra(methylenephosphonic acid) , also known as CAS 23605-74-5 , is a phosphonate chelating agent used to control scale formation and metal ion interference. It is highly effective in industrial water systems and process fluids. Its strong calcium and heavy metal binding capacity makes it a preferred choice where conventional chelants underperform. It remains stable and effective even at elevated temperatures or under high hardness conditions. In industrial water treatment, it inhibits calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate, and barium sulfate scale deposition. This is critical for the maintenance of cooling towers, boilers, and reverse osmosis systems. Oil and gas producers use it in injection water and produced water handling to prevent mineral scaling.
