Description

Cobalt dihydroxide (CAS 21041-93-0 ), also sold as cobaltous hydroxide, is an inorganic cobalt compound used as a precursor and catalyst intermediate across battery materials, pigment, and specialty chemical manufacturing. Its primary commercial role is converting into higher-value cobalt compounds through controlled thermal or chemical processing. In lithium-ion battery supply chains, it serves as a direct precursor to cobalt oxide and lithium cobalt oxide cathode materials. This makes it a critical upstream input for battery-grade chemical producers. Ceramic and glass manufacturers use it to introduce cobalt-based blue pigments into frits and glazes where consistent cobalt loading is required. In catalysis, it functions as a starting material for producing supported cobalt catalysts used in hydroprocessing and Fischer-Tropsch synthesis. Specialty chemical producers also use it as a reactive intermediate. It is frequently utilized when synthesizing cobalt salts such as cobalt naphthenate or cobalt acetate. Cobalt dihydroxide is supplied as a fine powder, typically in varying particle size distributions suited to downstream processing. Technical grade is the standard commercial offering, with high-purity grades available for battery and catalyst applications where trace metal limits are tightly controlled. Packaging ranges from small drums to bulk quantities. Contact us for supply of Cobalt dihydroxide Request Quote
