Description

Trisodium HEDTA (CAS 139-89-9 ), also known by the abbreviation HEDTA, is a water-soluble chelating agent used to bind and sequester metal ions across a range of industrial processes. By forming stable complexes with calcium, magnesium, iron, and heavy metals, it prevents unwanted mineral interference in formulations and process streams. In water treatment, HEDTA controls scale formation. It keeps metal ions in solution, protecting equipment and extending system life. Personal care formulators use it to deactivate trace metals in shampoos, conditioners, and skin cleansers. These trace metals would otherwise destabilize active ingredients or cause discoloration. Textile and paper processors apply it during bleaching and dyeing operations where metal contamination occurs. Metal contamination reduces process efficiency and damages fabric quality. In agriculture, it functions as a micronutrient carrier, chelating iron and manganese into plant-available forms. These forms are ideal for foliar sprays and fertigation solutions. Trisodium HEDTA is supplied as an aqueous solution, with 40% concentration being the most common commercial form. Technical grade is the standard offering across industrial markets. Specifications vary by application sector, and buyers sourcing for personal care should confirm grade suitability with the supplier. Contact us for supply of Trisodium HEDTA Request Quote
