Description

Sodium 1-naphthalenesulfonate (CAS 130-14-3 ), also known as sodium alpha-naphthalenesulfonate, is an aromatic sulfonate salt used industrially as a dispersant and wetting agent. It improves the distribution of pigments, dyes, and solid particles across aqueous and mixed-solvent systems. In textile processing, it acts as a leveling and dispersing agent for vat and disperse dyes. This chemical helps achieve uniform dye uptake across fabric substrates. Ink and pigment formulators incorporate it to stabilize pigment dispersions and reduce agglomeration in printing inks and coatings. In plastics and polymer processing, it supports the dispersion of fillers and colorants during compounding. Leather and paper manufacturers use it to improve wetting of fibrous substrates. This enables more consistent penetration of treatment chemicals throughout the manufacturing process. Sodium 1-naphthalenesulfonate is supplied as a white to off-white crystalline powder or granule. It is available in technical grade , which covers the majority of industrial dispersant and wetting applications. Purity specifications typically range from 95% to 99% for standard use. Packaging options are suited to both bulk industrial procurement and smaller formulation quantities. This ensures flexibility for various manufacturing scales and specific logistical requirements.
