Hydrotreated microcrystalline wax (CAS 92045-76-6 ) is a refined petroleum-derived wax produced through hydrotreatment to reduce aromatic and impurity content. It functions as a rheology modifier, lubricant, and plasticizer across coatings, adhesives, rubber, and polymer processing industries. In hot-melt adhesives and sealants, it controls viscosity and open time while improving flexibility in the final bond. Rubber and tire manufacturers incorporate it as a protective bloom agent and processing aid, extending surface durability against ozone degradation. Coatings formulators use it to adjust slip, gloss, and mar resistance in industrial and decorative finishes. In plastics compounding, it acts as an internal and external lubricant, reducing melt viscosity and preventing die buildup during extrusion. Hydrotreated microcrystalline wax is supplied as slabs, pellets, or pastilles, with melt point ranges typically spanning from approximately 60°C to over 90°C to suit different processing requirements. Grades are available to food-contact and cosmetic standards, including FCC and USP specifications, as well as technical grades for industrial applications.
