Description

Dibutyltin oxide (CAS 818-08-6 ) is an organotin compound used as a catalyst and reactive intermediate across polymer processing and surface coating industries. It drives esterification, transesterification, and condensation reactions where precise control over cure rate is required. In polyurethane and silicone sealant formulations, it functions as a curing catalyst, controlling gel time and final mechanical properties of the elastomeric network. Coating manufacturers use it to catalyze alkyd and polyester resin synthesis. The material accelerates esterification without discoloring the final film, ensuring high clarity in finished products.
