Epoxidized linseed oil (CAS 8016-11-3 ) is a bio-based plasticizer and stabilizer derived from linseed oil through an epoxidation process. It functions primarily as a secondary plasticizer and heat/light stabilizer in PVC and other polymer systems. This chemical extends the performance of primary plasticizers while improving long-term stability. In PVC compounding, it acts as a co-plasticizer alongside phthalates or citrates, improving flexibility and resistance to heat degradation. It is commonly utilized in the production of films, cables, and flooring. Coatings formulators incorporate it as a reactive diluent and cross-linking agent in alkyd and epoxy-based systems, contributing to film hardness and durability.
