Naphtha (petroleum) light steam-cracked
Description
Naphtha (petroleum) light steam-cracked (CAS 68478-07-9 ), also marketed as Escorez 569 and commercially processed into piperylene concentrate polymerized resin, is a complex hydrocarbon stream derived from steam cracking of petroleum fractions. It functions primarily as a feedstock for hydrocarbon resin production and as a tackifying and rheology-modifying component across polymer-based formulations. In adhesives and sealants, polymerized grades derived from this stream deliver tack and cohesion. These grades provide peel strength in hot-melt and pressure-sensitive adhesive systems. Rubber compounders use it to improve processability and green strength in tire and technical rubber articles, where resin compatibility is a key selection factor. Coatings formulators incorporate it to adjust viscosity and film-forming behavior in solvent-borne industrial coatings. In plastics modification, it acts as a processing aid and compatibilizer in polyolefin blends where melt flow needs to be tuned. This material is supplied as a liquid hydrocarbon stream or processed into solid or semi-solid resin form depending on the degree of polymerization. Technical-grade specifications are standard for industrial supply. Grades are differentiated by softening point, molecular weight distribution, and aromatic content. Bulk liquid, drum, and pelletized resin formats are available depending on downstream processing requirements and specific application needs.
