Description

Lauryl betaine (CAS 683-10-3 ), also known as Culveram CDG, is a zwitterionic surfactant derived from lauric acid that functions as a mild cleanser and foam booster. It acts as a conditioning agent across personal care, industrial, and water treatment applications. Its amphoteric character allows compatibility across a broad pH range for formulators. In personal care, it is used in shampoos, body washes, and facial cleansers to boost foam density. It improves skin feel while reducing the harshness of anionic surfactant systems. Water treatment formulators incorporate it as a biocidal and dispersing agent. It helps control microbial growth in process water and cooling tower systems effectively. Industrial cleaning formulations use it for degreasing and emulsification. It is preferred where low irritation and biodegradability are procurement priorities for the manufacturer. In food-contact and food-processing environments, it is selected for sanitizing applications. This is where residue profile and regulatory compliance are critical factors for safety. Lauryl betaine is typically supplied as an aqueous solution, with active content commonly ranging from 30% to 35%. It is available in technical and cosmetic grades. Cosmetic-grade material meets purity standards required for personal care registration. Bulk supply is standard in IBC containers and drums for industrial distribution.
