alpha-tocopherol
Description
Alpha-tocopherol (CAS 59-02-9 ), also supplied under E307 , is the most biologically active form of vitamin E and the dominant commercial choice across food, pharmaceutical, and industrial antioxidant applications. It prevents oxidative degradation in lipid-containing systems, extending shelf life and protecting sensitive ingredients from rancidity and free radical damage. In food and nutraceutical manufacturing, it is used to stabilize oils and fats. Pharmaceutical formulators incorporate it into soft gel capsules, emulsions, and parenteral preparations as both an active ingredient and a functional excipient protecting lipid-based drug delivery systems. Personal care producers rely on alpha-tocopherol to stabilize emollients and carrier oils in creams, serums, and suncare products, where it also supports UV-induced oxidation control in various formulations. In plastics and polymer processing, it functions as a non-phenolic antioxidant stabilizer, protecting polyolefins and elastomers during high-temperature compounding and extending the overall service life of the material. Alpha-tocopherol is available as a viscous oil in both natural and synthetic forms, with natural grades commanding a premium in food and pharma procurement. Recognized grades include USP , Ph.Eur. , and FCC . Food-grade purity is typically specified at 96% or higher for most industrial applications. Bulk supply is standard in drums or IBCs; concentrated mixed tocopherol blends are also commercially available for stabilization. Contact us for supply of alpha-tocopherol Request Quote
