Description

Sulfamic acid (CAS 5329-14-6 ), also known as sulphamic acid or sulfaminic acid, is a dry, stable inorganic acid used across industrial cleaning, descaling, and pH control applications. Unlike liquid mineral acids, it handles and doses easily in solid form, making it a practical choice for formulators and industrial buyers managing acid-based processes in various facilities. In industrial and institutional cleaning, it is the active descaling agent in boiler cleaners, heat exchanger treatments, and hard surface descalers, where it dissolves calcium and iron deposits. It performs these tasks without the fuming hazards of hydrochloric acid. Water treatment operations use it to control pH and neutralize excess chlorine in municipal and process water systems. Textile and leather processors apply it as a dye-bath acidifier and pH buffer, ensuring consistent uptake and finish quality. In pulp and paper manufacturing, it functions as a bleach stabilizer. It also acts as a pH regulator during chemical pulping and brightening stages. Sulfamic acid is supplied as a white crystalline powder or granules, with granule grades preferred for dust control. Standard commercial grades include technical grade and industrial grade, with purity levels typically at 99% or above. Bulk supply in bags, supersacks, and drums is standard for industrial volumes.
