Sodium methylparaben
Description
Sodium methylparaben (CAS 5026-62-0 ), also known by its EU food additive designation E219 , is the sodium salt form of methylparaben used as a broad-spectrum antimicrobial preservative. Its water-soluble nature makes it the preferred paraben variant for aqueous-based formulations across pharmaceuticals, personal care, and food applications. In pharmaceutical manufacturing, it protects liquid oral preparations. It is also utilized in topical creams and injectable formulations against microbial contamination throughout shelf life. Personal care formulators incorporate it into shampoos, lotions, and wet wipes where water activity creates spoilage risk. As E219, it is permitted in select food categories to extend product stability, particularly in processed foods and beverages where alternative preservatives may affect taste or regulatory standing. Coating and adhesive systems with aqueous carrier phases also use it to prevent in-can microbial growth during storage and distribution. Sodium methylparaben is supplied as a white crystalline powder or fine granules. It is available in USP , BP , and Ph. Eur. grades for pharmaceutical and personal care applications. Food-grade material meeting E219 specifications is also available for regulated food use. Technical grade is also available for industrial coating and adhesive applications. This ensures compatibility across a wide range of manufacturing requirements and global regulatory standards for chemical safety. Contact us for supply of Sodium methylparaben Request Quote
