In polyester and polyurethane compounding, it functions as a hydrolysis stabilizer that scavenges free acid groups, preventing molecular weight loss during processing or long-term use. Rubber and elastomer formulators incorporate it into thermoplastic polyurethane and polylactic acid compounds where moisture exposure would otherwise accelerate chain scission. Coating and adhesive manufacturers use it as a crosslinker for waterborne systems containing carboxyl-functional resins, improving film durability and chemical resistance.
