Description

Stearyl palmitate (CAS 2598-99-4 ), also known as octadecyl palmitate, is a waxy ester derived from stearyl alcohol and palmitic acid. It functions as a lubricant, plasticizer, and emulsifier across personal care, polymer, and industrial processing applications. In personal care manufacturing, it is used in lipsticks, body butters, and skin creams to improve texture, spreadability, and product stability without contributing greasiness. Polymer processors incorporate it as an internal or external lubricant. This additive helps to reduce friction during extrusion and molding of PVC and other thermoplastics, improving surface finish and mold release. In metalworking and industrial lubricant formulations, it acts as a slip and anti-friction additive. It is frequently utilized in solid lubricant blends and wax-based compounds. Emulsification applications include its use as a co-emulsifier or consistency agent in emollient-rich formulations where a waxy solid structure is required. The material is supplied as a white to off-white waxy solid, typically in flake or pastille form suited for melt-and-blend processing. Technical and cosmetic grades are the most commonly available for industrial use. Cosmetic-grade material meets purity requirements for personal care end use. Packaging is generally offered in bags or fiber drums, with bulk availability depending on supplier requirements and logistics. Contact us for supply of Stearyl palmitate Request Quote
