Description

Texanol (CAS 25265-77-4 ), also known as 2,2,4-Trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol monoisobutyrate, is a slow-evaporating ester alcohol solvent used primarily as a coalescent agent in waterborne coating systems. It supports film formation by temporarily plasticizing latex particles during drying, enabling continuous, defect-free films at low application temperatures. In architectural and industrial waterborne paints, it is the benchmark coalescent. This chemical is ideal for acrylic and vinyl-acrylic latex systems, improving film formation without permanently softening the dried coating. Printing ink formulators use it as a rheology modifier and carrier solvent. It helps to control flow and open time in water-based flexographic and gravure inks. In construction adhesives and sealants, it functions as a processing aid that improves substrate wetting and adhesion development. The product is utilized in polymer dispersions, while caulks and elastomeric sealants also incorporate it to extend working time. This supports uniform cure across varying ambient conditions during the application process. Texanol is supplied as a clear liquid in standard packaging including drums and IBC totes, with bulk liquid available for large-volume procurement. It is produced to technical and coatings-grade specifications. The material is commonly referenced against Eastman's commercial standard in supplier qualification processes. Our supply chain ensures consistent quality and availability for industrial manufacturing requirements globally. Contact us for supply of Texanol Request Quote
