Description

Sodium heptanesulfonate (CAS 22767-50-6 ) is an anionic surfactant and ion-pairing reagent used across pharmaceutical, industrial, and personal care manufacturing. It functions primarily as a mobile phase modifier in HPLC separations. The compound also serves as a surface-active agent in formulation and cleaning applications. In pharmaceutical manufacturing, it is the reagent of choice for ion-pair reversed-phase HPLC workflows. This reagent enables the separation and quantification of basic drug compounds and their impurities in quality control. Personal care formulators incorporate it into cleansing systems for controlled emulsification. It provides low-irritation surfactancy where required. In textile and leather processing, it supports degreasing baths and dyeing auxiliaries where consistent dispersion of hydrophobic substrates is critical. Printing and packaging operations use it in ink formulations and surface treatment processes. These applications help to improve wetting and adhesion on various treated substrates during production. Sodium heptanesulfonate is supplied as a white crystalline powder or as an aqueous solution. Anhydrous and monohydrate forms are both commercially available for different industrial needs. The monohydrate is the standard grade for chromatographic use. It is sourced to reagent-grade and HPLC-grade specifications, with food-contact and technical grades available for industrial applications.
