Flufenacet

Flufenacet (CAS 142459-58-3 ), also known by its development code FOE 5043, is a selective herbicide used in commercial agriculture to control grass and broadleaf weeds in cereal and oilseed crops. It inhibits very-long-chain fatty acid synthesis in target plants, making it effective as a pre-emergence and early post-emergence soil treatment for various agricultural applications. Flufenacet is primarily applied in winter wheat, winter barley, and oilseed rape to suppress problematic grass weeds such as blackgrass and ryegrass where resistance has reduced options. In maize production, it controls annual grasses and certain broadleaf species when applied to the soil surface before crop emergence to ensure optimal yield and crop health. Formulators combine it with partners such as diflufenican or metribuzin to broaden the weed control spectrum and reduce resistance selection pressure in intensive farming systems.
