Cyanuric acid
Description
Cyanuric acid (CAS 108-80-5 ) is a triazine-based compound used industrially as a stabilizer, biocide precursor, and flame retardant intermediate. In water treatment, it extends the effective life of chlorine-based disinfectants by reducing UV degradation. Across polymer and textile applications, it functions as a building block for flame retardant systems and crosslinking agents. In swimming pool and recreational water treatment, it stabilizes free chlorine against photodegradation. This stabilization reduces chemical consumption and maintains consistent sanitizer levels. Polymer formulators use it as a precursor to melamine cyanurate, a halogen-free flame retardant additive incorporated into nylon and engineering plastics. In textile and leather processing, it serves as a component in crosslinking systems that improve dye fixation and substrate durability. Paper treatment applications include its use in wet-strength resin formulations. It also acts as a chlorine stabilizer in bleaching processes. Cyanuric acid is supplied as a white crystalline powder and in granular form, with granules preferred in water treatment for easier handling and controlled dissolution. Standard commercial grades include technical and water treatment grades, with purity typically at 98% or higher. Packaging ranges from small bags to bulk quantities, supporting both industrial formulators and pool chemical blenders. Contact us for supply of Cyanuric acid Request Quote
